Filling of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 3:11 (also Mark 1:8)
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? . . . Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
1 John 2:27; 3:24
But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. . . . Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5
(God) Who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. . . . Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
Ephesians 1:13, 14; 4:30
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. . . . And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Luke 1:15; 4:1
For he [John the Baptist] will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. . . . Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.
Acts 2:4; 6:3; 7:55; 11:24; 13:9, 52
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. . . (6:3) Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. . . (7:55) But he [Stephen], being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God [6:8—And Stephen, full of faith [grace] and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.] . . (11:24) For he [Barnabas] was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. . . (13:9, 52) Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him. . . And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 4:1 (see above)
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:16; 25
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. . . . If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
2 Peter 1:21
For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love.
1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not quench the Spirit.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Galatians 5:25, 26
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
That He [God the Father] would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
For he [Barnabas] was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
Galatians 5:22, 23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
